Franklin Township is located on the eastern edge of Somerset County. It is an interesting mix of everything from farm land to semi-urban. Franklin is an easy place for NYC commuters to live, as it has easy access to bus service through Suburban Transit, and rail connections through NJ Transit.
Franklin Township was named #5 in Money.CNN.com’s Best Places to Live feature for 2008.
Homes range from around $130k for a one bedroom condo to multi-million dollar homes and a nice selection of everything in between.
Franklin Township is just off the Route 1 corridor making it very convenient for shopping. There are several major shopping areas, Princeton Forestal Village, Princeton Market Fair, Quakerbridge Mall, Menlo Park Mall, and Bridgewater Commons, all within ½ hr of the township. In addition most all retailers such as, Home Depot, Best Buy, Barnes & Noble and many many more are all conveniently located in and around the township. Many recreational opportunities ranging from biking, hiking and canoeing for the outdoors enthusiasts, to skating, bowling, movies and other indoor activities. The Delaware and Raritan Canal State Park runs right along the western border, offering many fun activities.
Franklin Township is about an hour from NYC, less than 45 min. to Newark Liberty Airport. The Township is bordered by Hillsborough and Montgomery to the west, Princeton to the south, North Brunswick and South Brunswick to the east, and New Brunswick to the north.
Like most of central New Jersey Franklin has a good school system including a brand new high school. The school system has all of the facilities and activities you would expect.
